Darrla came into the camp and let out a long sigh. Her horse had long been gone, left in Suri so that the men here would not eat her. She did, bring her wolf, who stomped right up to the fire. Her eyes darting around for a time as she looked to one of the Gauradans and waved one hand before moving to the fire.
Riddemark |The bone-chilling winds swept over the snow before Him. Yellow tinted eyes scanned the horizon before letting his nose rise up and sniff at the air. A foreign scent...no, two foreign scents faintly perked his senses. The hairs on the back of his neck uplifted and a bark sounnding like an order or warning erupted from his throat. Before making it a big deal, he turned about and-
Riddemark -began following the trail to the fire only meters away from him.
Darrla had settled next to a boulder. As soon as she sat, the silver wolf came at her side nestling its muzzle onto her lap. She slowly stroked the wolf absent mindedly and let out a cool breath. "We're back home...." She whispered out and closed her eyes.
You sit.
Riddemark ever so slowly and quietly approached the entities from behind. His scent was covered by endless sheets of frost, and his bear visage made his breathing nothing compared to the wind.
Darrla didn't noticed what was coming from behind. This was the one place she felt safe. Where she felt she belonged when nobody else would take her in. She felt the wolf stir, but nothing unusual as her calming voice whispered to the wolf. "There are other wolves here for you to play with....sure the winters are harsh, but this is where we belong...."
Riddemark felt his heart beat heavily and listened in on the conversation between the animal and the woman. He looked around to make sure the coast was clear before acting, then extended a foot out and shoved her with it to get her attention.
Darrla let out a hiss of a growl as something thumped her in the back. She didn't stand, only slid on her rump in the snow. That curved dagger of hers already unsheated as she remained now at a croutching position with the blade poised. The wolf at her side growled low with its hackles raised. Dar's eyes trained on the male before her.
Riddemark bared his teeth as the woman took up an offensive position. He took a step back and got on all fours, prepared to leap like a raging spider. It seemed as though he was curious, though very little, about how she managed to get up this far, and /why/ she bothered.
Darrla bared her teeth though her teeth looked nothing like Ridd's. Her shoulders haunched over as her sharp emeralds glared at the male. The wolf at her side almost mirrored Dar's reaction. She opened her mouth to speak but all that came out was a growl. Which surprised even Darrla, not realizing how much this place brought back the 'feral' in her.
Riddemark growled back in a low and quite intimidating manner, then stomped his foot into the ice. After he grew tired of staring, he released a blood curdling roar with the intent of shocking or driving the both off. His razor sharp claws scraped at the ice and chiseled little trenches upon it as his position slowly moved.
Darrla watched his every move as she remained where she was. Slowly did she move to the right, circling his left side. When he roared she paused her stance but did not back away even an inch. Her wolf was at her heels, following her lead. Eyes locked on the male and not showing any sign of submission with his movements against her.
Riddemark kept his eyes and body facing her with her every move. The fact she was moving around made him even more aggressive, and therefor he let out a slur of barks which sounded somewhat like words. Off in the distance, large feet trodded across the snow and seeked out the source of the sound.
Darrla let out a slow growl. No roar uttered from her lips, but it was clear she was not backing down. The wolf behind her moved forward to her right flank, and she skidded the wolf backwards with a growl of warning. She would not allow this dominance dance to injure her own.
Riddemark flared his nostrils and sways side to side incase the fetid creature at her right threatened to actually attack. From behind the rock came a small troupe of Gauredain, about 3. One of them inspected the female and then approached Lag, speaking to him in their native tongue. After the short exchange of words, Lag stood up as tall as he could manage and looked down upon the-
Riddemark -female and her companion, "Word...would have been nice."
Darrla watched the three approach and as Lag stood, she stood as well. Locking her right leg infront of the wolf. She'd be damned if he had the 'upper' hand on her. Her sharp green emeralds flickered to the three once more and she dipped her head before returning her eyes to Lag. "Don't remember you being here a few years back.....a recruit?" She asked with a bit of venom still in her-
Darrla -voice.
Riddemark growls under his breath and points to her, "No. Not a recruit." He never told her what he was actually, and decided to leave it that way. He responded to the other three in a somewhat abrasive manner, but to them, it was just the typical order. They walked off and kept vigilant, "I do not care who you are...but you will lose that tone before I pull it from your lungs."
Darrla smirked at the male before her and rolled her hand in a manner that would deem her speaking to a king. "All appologies sir....but I assume that you know if I am here....I am not a lady of the common lands." she paused and finally retracted her foot. The wolf at her side growled once more but let up and started sniffing about the area keeping a trained eye on Lag. "So....I would-
Darrla - watch /your/ tone." She said it in a calm manner, her venom had all but departed, and her stance was still offensive.
Riddemark looked her over with his inquisitive and enthralling eyes. He remained silent for a time and snorted, not seeing the words from her mouth enough to make him speak again. He walked on all fours back over to the edge of the cliff and snorted out another blast of air towards the wolf as he passed, letting it know that /he/ was the beast in charge, not it.
Darrla smirked to herself. She felt as if she had one that small game they were playing. Though she spoke again anyways. "The wolf is mine and she follows my ways, she is just as determined and steadfast as I." Her voice held an accent of the Suri-kyla tribe. She approached from his right side and paused just behind him as she overlooked the mountain through the storm. "How long have -
Darrla - you been here?"
Riddemark remained silent and felt no sense of entitlement towards having to respond, though he would have to. His eyes scanned the horizon once more through the thick falling snow, "Long enough." The way in which he spoke was brash and with much confidence, as it always was and would never change, "Be warned Lossoth...If you play your Human tricks..." He turned around and without a drip-
Riddemark -of fear, approached her and proceeded to loom above, "I will devour you and your pet alive."
Darrla watched as he approached. The wolf didn't feel any fear come off of Darrla, and so she remained as she was, sniffing about. Darrla looked up at him, those sharp emeralds glarring into his. "Is that supposed to scare me away?" She asked in the sweetest of voices. "This was the one place that accepted me for who I was.......and /you/ are not going to scare me out of it." Her -
Darrla -voice was still calm as ever at this point. She did not budge from where she stood, and her posture was not as tense as it once was.
Riddemark let his head draw back due to her tenacity. A slight smirk pulled at his frost-peppered lips, "A warning." He stated simply as he turned back to watch over the cliff. Her confidence made him a little excited, and so did her demeanor. Though she was small, he knew there was something that proved her to be not as worthless as the typical Lossoth Tribeswoman. A stretch took over-
Riddemark -his body and his back arched as he became the slightest bit comfortable, and the fact he remained silent, proved he had nothing more to speak on.
Darrla watched again as he walked away from her. She moved over to the ledge with not a word to say. Her eyes marking the path that she had took so many years ago. A faint smile on her lips as she recalled. The wolf eased up from her sniffing and trotted over to lay at Dar's side. Sometimes silence was best, though eventually after a long few moments she broke it. "If you prefer me at-
Darrla - the other camp down the path, I would comply. Wouldn't want to make anyone any more uncomfortable then they are...."
Riddemark frowned at her giving in and turned around once more. He only stared down at her, making the most of the time between the speech. He approached her once more and even circled around her so that he would arrive behind, "Then go. Go where you see fit..." His words were quite harsh and showed no compassion for her position and feelings towards the other members or even that she-
Riddemark -used to know this place well.
Darrla paused for a moment allowing him to be behind her without any of her muscles being tense. To show him that she was unafraid. After a time she stood and pivoted around to face him. "I don't infringe upon territory when I'm unwelcome." She hissed out, her venom returning once more. "The others here....they accepted me a long time ago, I don't need your acceptance." Her eyes -
Darrla - burrowed holes through his. She brushed past him, the horns upon her pack grazing past his bare arms. "No need for territorial disputes when there is enough room down the path." She said matter of factly.
Riddemark snorted at her tone and stature as she began to regain her composure, "Time is not your friend...and you do now." The grazing of the horns made him a little bit more excited ontop of her attitude, "They all remain under one figure...and listen to only one figure."
Darrla chuckled a bit and shook her head. "They remain loyal to the most dominant of the tribe because that is what they know...." She turned around to face him, her eyes seeming to glint even in the dark storm. "There was a time when I was respected for fighting the leader....." Another pause. "I won't hesitate to do the same to you to stay here. This is my home."
Riddemark grew a wicked smirk which was partially hidden underneath his visage. Bared and pointed fangs just asked for flesh to tear into, "A challenge..." The sound made the hairs on his body rise and even his muscles tense, "So be it." His right hand swung to the right and back, leaving gnash marks through the thin trunk of the tree post. He then turned around and prepared to make his-
Riddemark -jump down, "Talvi-Muri."
Darrla whistled at her wolf. Her ears perked, but she politely obeyed and dashed off in the opposite direction. "So be it." She said simply and moved to follow him.
Riddemark paces back and forth until his 'guest' arrived. He adjusted the gauntlets upon his wrists and stood tall as she entered. A small bit of him was surpsied she arrived, but another bit knew she was going to. He simply stared her down as he let his legs part, left infront, right in back.
Darrla slung her pack off her back, and in one swoop, her hands clutched to the horns that adorned her pack. Two in either hand. Her stance was offensive, but her eyes were actually calm. "Let us not dance around this..." She said and she charged after him moving slightly to the left of him with one hooked horn attempting to scrape hard against his back.
Riddemark moved forward against the slash as it bored into his vest and flesh. The attack forced him onto all fours, and made him more vigilant of her ability to not attack mainly from the front. With no time wasted, he leaped forward with both claws aimed towards her chest.
Darrla let out a low growl as she saw him charged. She took to the ground and rolled away from his charge. Meanwhile, with her hooks still in hand she attempted to slash at his right leg with the horns.
Riddemark easily flung past her as she avoided his lunge. As the hooks seemed to home in on his right leg, he flipped himself back to avoid the blow, then repeated the same lunge as before, but instead of straight forward, he seemed to bob and weave side to side.
Darrla watched as a predator would as he lunged after her. She rolled off to the right side once more, nearly missing him and using a powerful leg to kick at his left side in attempts to hit his ribs.
Riddemark continued through with the leap and landed on all fours. He winced lightly as the contact with his ribs had made his breathing just a bit more difficult. This time, instead of leaping, he plummeted forward on his feet back at her and with both claws sweeping around to claw at her sides.
Darrla waited for him to come at her once more. She was like a cat, swift in her movements. When he was a foot away she dodged to the left then and attempted to use the brunt of her horns against the back of his head.
Riddemark misses /AGAIN/ and roars out in pure anger. He was now in such a frenzy that he was shaking. When the strike made contact to his head, he winced and rolled back. This made him yet even more pissed, and he began to drool and claw at the ground like a being lacking the ability to think morally. He grabbed two fists full of dirt and slung the contents at her head before going in-
Riddemark -for a headbutt aimed at her stomach.
Darrla was blinded by the dirt, not able to move fast enough. She heard him coming and took a defensive stance, and then his head came into contact with her stomach. It knocked the wind out of her as she was basically tackled to the ground, sliding a few feet. It took her a moment to regain her breath but she attempted to swing the horns at the side of his head to get him off of her.
Riddemark was knocked in the head again with the horns, and he drew back. The visage he was wearing prevented bleeding, but the trauma made his vision go slightly blurry for a moment. A headache came over him, but would do little to nothing due to his frenzy. With vision back and his eyes wide open, he went in for another leap and with both hands aimed for her neck.
Darrla didn't have time to react. She was trying to catch her breath as soon as he slung back atop of her. His hands wrapped around her neck and she looked at him viciously with a flicker in her eyes managing to breath the words out. "We've no time for foreplay...." And once again she tried to use the horn against his head to knock him out or get him off of her.
Riddemark winced at the strike to his head once more and roared. It neither got him off nor knocked him out, but it did put his vision out for the time he was on her. His grip was slightly looser than it would have been if his head weren't wailed on so hard, but nevertheless, the grip did remain on her neck and he tried to get her to succumb.
Darrla let out a loud growl as her windpipe was being closed off. She took in a shallow sip of air before she used all of what she could to hit him upside the head once more.
Riddemark scowled and kept his eyes closed as his hands closed over her neck. It felt like nothing more than a birch sappling within his hands, but before he could revere in her lack of air, the hook hit him in the head again. Though it wasn't as hard as it could have been, it made him let his grip loose and swing a punch towards her face before leaping off.
Darrla felt the blow to her face. If it had been a tad bit powerful, it might have cracked her skull. She was going to have a huge bruise tomorrow. When he finally backed off of her, she gasped for air. She jumped in a crouched position. She didn't have the energy to lunge at him so she took out a knife in her boot and slung it at him hoping the lack of oxygen didn't miss her target -
Darrla -aimed at his chest.
Riddemark opened his eyes, but only half-way due to the head tremors, then swiped his massive right arm into the blade, relying on his gauntlet to plink it aside and onto the ground. He considered avoiding close contact, but ignored his own judgement. He lunged at her once more, trying to get his full weight to do it's own harm to her.
Riddemark (its*)
Darrla took what energy she had left and rolled quickly upon the ground only hoping that huge monster didn't come barreling atop of her. When she was enough distance away she took her hook and attempted to hit the back of his head once more.
Riddemark fell forward as the strike made contact to his head. He fell forward onto his stomach and let out a long and exhasperated groan. As his right hand held onto his head, he head the left one lift himself up. In his current condition, he figured it would be worthless to waste trying to continue and aiming to kill her since she was able to get this far. He began lumbering towards-
Riddemark -his fire and plopped his mass beside it.
Darrla watched him move away from her. She didn't say a word as she exited the cave and returned a few moments later with snow inside the bladder of an elk. She moved towards the fire and handed it to him. "For your head." She said and sat down a few feet away from him.
Riddemark inspected the organic object and grunted. What nerve she had to offer him help after technically defeating him in a spar. He took the bladder and set it next to him, not even putting it anywhere near his head due to the spite and continuing anger he had for her agility.
Darrla snorted a bit at his arrogance. "Fine.....get a lump on your head the side of your fist." She leaned back some, her face already starting to swell immensely from his punch. She stood and moved towards her pack, dragging it back to the fire to use as light. A few clanks could be heard and she grasped a vial putting the thick green stuff on her face.
Riddemark huffed and took the bladder. His free hand pullled the back of the mask up so that he could fit the bladder in, then he did so. The cooling sensation was alright, and he refused to make it look like he enjoyed it. Without giving a reason why, or hint to him doing so, he proceeded to stare at her from under his mask without looking at anything else.
Darrla finished with the salve on the swelling lump on her face. She leaned back some and starred at the fire, fully aware that he was looking at her. She was trying to catch her breath still without it appearing as much. "You hungry?" She asked noncholauntly as she finally looked over at him seening parts of where her horns did damage to his flesh.
Riddemark scoffed at her question, even though he was quite hungry. His metabolism and active lifestyle made him /always/ hungry. A sigh broke his lips as he nodded, which was an open sign that he was tired of his own arrogance and ignorance for the night.
Darrla nodded and stood up to face the entrance of the cave. She let out a loud whistle and moved a bit closer towards him. "Dinner will be here soon." She said eyeing his wounds and throwing a vial at him as well as a cloth. "And clean up your blood before it attracks unwanted vermin. I don't care for the ice worm breathing down my neck..."
Riddemark didn't even catch the vial or the cloth as it was tossed at him. He let the vial fester where it fell but used the cloth to wipe off the small amounts of blood that had left his few wounds. They were already starting to seal anyways so he didn't bother try and fix them more. After he wiped them clean, he tossed the soiled cloth to the side.
Darrla leaned back again and after a few long moments of silence, her wolf came in with a young elk. Her teeth were sunk into the elk's throat and she drug it to Dar's side dropping it at her feet. Dar opened up the elk with her curved dagger and injected her hand from the diaphram piercing it and to the heart- which she tossed to the wolf. "Your kill....." She whispered to the wolf -
Darrla -proceeding to remove the entrails and other soft organs. Her mouth watered as she began cutting off choice pieces of the elk.
Riddemark watched the small animal get drug and dropped next to the woman. He scoffed at the kill and stood up, then proceeded into his hut which he had forgot about due to his rage. He did infact, have food fit for a chief somewhere within it. After a moment, he left the hut with a a massive hulk of meat which looked to be a roasted back end of a bear. It wasn't real hot since it was-
Riddemark -sitting here for a good while, but it still retained heat. He plopped ti down by the fire and continued watching her and the small Elk.
Darrla skewered the intestines on a stick, twisting them around the long piece before she stood and began roasting the long tube. It only took a few seconds before her hunger took over her and she retracted it from the fire eating it while still mostly raw and hotter than her mouth could handle. It burned the roof of her mouth and tongue, but she didn't care, she slurped it up like -
Darrla -noodles, not caring if she was in the company of anyone. Her hand taking out the liver and nearly devouring that as quickly as the intestines.
Riddemark watched her devour the creature with an arched eyebrow. He shook his head a little bit and reached over to rip the haunch of the bear off. Before he could eat it, the slurping and chomping of her meat distracted him a bit. In that case, he felt like he should drown out her sounds with his own, so he bit into the haunch and began tearing it to pieces, chewing it with his mouth-
Riddemark -open, and even growling as he tried to tear the ligaments and little bits of muscle apart.
Darrla moved her eyes towards him for a split second. She couldn't help the growl that purged off her lips as she gripped the elk by it's rear leg and drew it closer to her person. He had his own food, which was good. She used her knife to peel the fur off like a pro and dipped the knife further to get out hunks of flesh from its flanks. By the time she was finished, her entire front -
Darrla -body was covered in the blood of the elk and she was satisfied.
Riddemark finished the haunch quickly and tore the other one off, then did the same to it as he did the other, but faster this time. He chucked both bones in the fire after they had been picked clean, then burped loudly. He had been pleased with this meal, and he fell back before the fire with a good feeling resting in his stomach.
Darrla looked over towards Ridd for a while before she snatched the cloth that she had given him. She whiped her face off, probablly only smearing the blood even moreso.
Riddemark scratched his groin for a moment and grunted as he felt quite fine. His legs fell to the side and his arms fell behind his head, eyes just staring at the smokey hole in the top of the cave.
Darrla let out a relaxed sigh as she followed suit in laying down to stare up. The wolf, when it was finished with the heart, burrowed its head into the stomach of whatever was left of the elk and took her helping. When she was done, she moved to Dar's left side and nuzzled up against her. "The name is Saeunn." She said with little emotion and not expecting a response as she gently -
Darrla -stroked the wolf.
Riddemark heard her name, and followed her expectations by not responding. He would remember though. At this point, he was impressed with her overall, for a woman, and figured she might either be of some use, or potentially provide some services. His head looked to the left at her and he spoke, "Lagach."
Darrla turned her head to the right when he spoke his name. Her sharp emeralds staring at him for a time while her left hand continued to stroke her wolf. Her gaze did not shift or budge, just burrowing her eyes into him.
Riddemark stared back at her without the slightest bit of reaction. It seemed staring was what he did often nowadays, and he could do it for a good while. Something about her though made him feel as though she was here for more than just a challenge...and it made him wonder.
Darrla couldn't read any part of him. His eyes seemed distant and his posture relaxed. She was good at reading people, even animals moreso- but not this one. She frowned for a moment but it did not reach her eyes. "Tell me what you are thinking." She said before she could take her words back.
Riddemark arched an eyebrow at her question, as it had never been asked to him before...or at least, not for a very long while. A moment went before he looked back up to the hole in the cave, "Too much." He said before scratching his groin again. It had seemed that yes, many things were on his mind, and it hindered him.
Darrla shrugged as she kept her eyes upon him. "You aren't the only one. Though sometimes it helps to talk about it. Even if you aren't seeking for advice, but to actually say it aloud." She shrugged.
Riddemark figured he might as well let loose a little information, "I live not alone, but lonely. I live not unenjoyably, but enjoyably...yet I question...Do I deserve it?"
Darrla shrugged as she slowly sat up, her eyes flickering into the fire. "Do any of us deserve that which has been given to us? We make our own lives and take our own paths.....I believe it is all for a reason." She began cutting up the rest of the meat and folding it in waxed cloth.
Riddemark grunted and determines she was correct. He nodded and stretched out, "Then...I am living perfectly." A nod followed his statement, and he grabbed at the ice behind his head, smearing it into his hands.
Darrla nodded a bit. "Then that is all that matters." She said finally. When she finished wrapping up the meat she tossed the carcass to her left side for the wolf to gnaw at later. The pelt would be fully skinned later. She laid back down starring at the stars as her eyes closed in content.
Riddemark looked back over to her again and let his eyes gaze upon her form. It made him anxious and almost exhausted. The lack of women about these areas and within his tribe made it almost difficult to be around them during normal hours, better yet sleeping hours. He laid back and continued to inspect her body, which brought him minimal pleasure.
Riddemark |The bone-chilling winds swept over the snow before Him. Yellow tinted eyes scanned the horizon before letting his nose rise up and sniff at the air.
