Darrla shrugs to herself. "Thought I'd go visit some old friends just north of here...." : She cracked a smile: "I've been promising my brother for weeks!"
Raigar says, 'North of here?'
Darrla says, 'Yeah well....you know...old friends....they like to camp in the oddest of places..'
Raigar nods, setting his gaze to the horizon. "I trust you haven't been through Bree lately? The people suffer from flood and famine. Most of the crops were wiped out."
Darrla whipes at her face again. "I woke up to find my home flooded! My sister said I was asleep for three days.....though I don't remember much of that."
Raigar hmms softly. "Three days? It's a good thing you're /not/ asking for payment on this job." He grins, glancing to her with a wink.
Darrla sighs and shakes her head. "Bree town seems to be pretty dry now...but....nobody seems to care about the Old Forest and its waters." : She shakes her head and slowly lies her torso onto her horse hugging his neck and resting her head ontop of his. She looked pretty pale and very sweaty.: "As I've said before love, I don't care for things I already have much of....money being one of those things."
Raigar raised a hand and brushed her cheek as she laid there. "You sure you're feeling well?" he asks, ignoring the question about her payment. "You don't have an infected wound, do you?"
Darrla shakes her head. "Not that I can think of....the last wound I received was from you, and that healed up pretty nicely." : she nods in approval as sweat beaded off her forehead, yet she grew too faint to whipe it this time:
Raigar didn't much like the sign of that, his eyes closing. "You need rest, Darrla. In the cold of this morning you shouldn't be sweating like that."
Darrla smiles. "I'm fine love, you needn't worry yourself about me. I am sure you have much more important things to worry about."
Raigar nods. "Well unlike you, I will not leave Breeland to chaos and massacre.. Not while there /is/ money to be made from it.. I'm running protection for the aid caravans from the Shire.. I pass by the Forest quite often, actually."
Darrla immediately grows stiff and sits upright, her hands clentching the mane of her horse as eyes widen. "The s-shire?"
Raigar hmms softly. "Yeah why?"
Darrla grits her teeth hard. "With all the hobbits? You help them?" :It was obvious Darrla didn't exactly understand what he meant, all she heard was protection and Shire:
Raigar shakes his head. "I keep their merchants from the knives of brigands and thieves.. They're bringing in food for the Breelanders, replacing the crops and fields that were washed away in the flood."
Darrla furrows her brows and then slowly falls back to her position, laying her torso on the horse. "You seem like such a saint...."
Raigar gives a shrug of his shoulder, lips curving to a smirk. "They pay well.. Moreso than any brigand has offered to sabotage a caravan.."
Darrla looks over to him with a smile. "Is money all you are after? Is that why you are really sticking around?"
Raigar says, 'What do you mean sticking around?'
Raigar sets his hand against the side of Darrla's horse, fingers stroking its side and fur.
Darrla lifts a very frigid hand to his chin and tries to force him to look her in the eye. "Well, you can't like me for my good looks and sanity....so maybe it is just a money thing?" :She smirks:
Raigar 's eyes flicker unwaveringly over Darrla, full of confidence that could be mistaken as arrogance. "Yeah, maybe it is," he teases with a playful smirk.
Darrla smiles as a few beads of sweat drip from her forehead and to the bridge of her nose. "So you were saying that you pass by the old forest......"
Raigar watches a few more beads roll down her face, though his brows remain firm as he veils his concern. "I do.." he replies.
Darrla crinkles her nose. "Were you getting at something.... or did you just want me to know the paths that you take?" :If he got any closer to her, he could probablly feel the heat radiating off her body:
Raigar says, 'I could stop by sometime.. If you'll be around.'
Darrla looks down at her horse. "It doesn't seem my horse likes trudging through the high waters of the forest so much....sometimes he refuses to go in." :She let out a sigh of hot breath. Her horse knew that Darrla was sick and refused to take her to such a bad environment, he knew his rider oh so well:
Raigar nods. "It was just a suggestion.." he remarks, then runs his fingers down her arm.
Darrla smiles. "You aren't getting feelings for me, are you mister Raigar?" :She cracks a smile as some more sweat rolls down her forehead and she clentches her jaw to keep them from chattering:
Raigar stifles a chuckle, lips curving into a thin smile themselves. "No, I wouldn't dream of it Darrla.. For you have me quite convinced that your mind is so wrecked that you could never comprehend the meaning of 'feelings', my queen."
Darrla nods her head faintly. "I suppose you are right....I did love once you know......but he ended up keeping me from who I really was." :she sighed once more: "I couldn't be myself around him, but I loved him none the less."
Raigar sighs softly, glancing back to the rising sun. "I'm still trying to figure out what /is/ the real you, Darrla, for you have so many faces."
Darrla forces a smile again. "I suppose you are right....there is just one side I'm afraid to show you, in fear of loosing your respect."
Raigar says, 'Yet I am so curious to know..'
Raigar grins.
Darrla sighs and closes her eyes. "Help me off my horse." :A simple request made, but she couldn't budge to aid him if he decided to do so:
Raigar nods and reaches out to grab Darrla and help her down. Hands would hold her still just incase her legs were wobbly.
Darrla once she was off her horse, her legs did give way and she fell into him. She looked up at him, her body very heated against his, and perhaps he could tell. "I think I have grown ill.....and I would hate to disappoint my enemies if I died too soon."
Raigar bows his head, eyes watching her. "We are descendants of Man, not the immortal elves or elder dwarves.. We need our rest, my dear, even you."
Darrla says, 'And food and water as well.....though sometimes I seem to forget such things. My late husband reminded me of such things. He took care of me. :She tried to stand on her own, and finally managed to do such without his help, though she could have fallen at any time.: "That may be the side you have never seen. And now you know."'
Raigar smiles softly, his head shaking. "Come.. I will take you to the Forsaken Inn and tend to your sickness. Until you are well enough to walk, at least."
Darrla sighs. "I can walk on my own....and with the aid of my horse." :She sounded quite defiant as she managed a growl: "I don't like being vulnerable or showing weaknesses infront of anyone, not even my own sister. There is another thing you know of me."
Raigar shrugs, turning to walk with her. He whistles into the wind and in the distance somewhere, Coldfoot raises his head, ready to track behind the duo at his own pace. "I will bore you with plenty more stories you do not know of me, if it makes us even.."
Darrla says, 'I would like to hear some, if you are willing to tell such. How else might two strangers get to know one another? :Noname, her own horse follows close behind she looks behind her and adds: "Seems our feet lead us somewhere else this day, brother. Perhaps I will take you to see our old friends some other time."'
Darrla sits by the fire, her teeth chattering as she closed her arms around her.
Darrla clentched a hand around a cup as her hand shook, lifting it up to her lips and drinking heavily.
Raigar kneeled beside Darrla and took her free hand in his grasp. He lifted her against him, supporting her weight over his shoulder. "Come'on.." he whispered, leading her.
Darrla allows him to lift her as she moved herself against him, her lips still quivering as she shook with chills.
Raigar tilts his head. "Lay down.. I don't htink your friends in the hills will notice us here.. There have been a lot of people fleeing Bree since the flood of late for anyone to take notice of us two."
Darrla looks to the bed and moves to one sitting down. Her brother followed and sat down next to her shaking his head and pointing to the ceiling. "I won't fall asleep.....not this time..."
Raigar lifts a brow. "You will have to dear.. Sleep and recover your strength. I will protect you while you do."
Darrla shakes her head. "No....I can't sleep here...." :More seat drips from her forehead and down the sides of her head, her eyes feeling very heavy as her teeth begin to chatter again: "S-s-so cold."
Raigar rolls his eyes sternly. "Because you need to be beneath the blankets dear.. I will keep you warm, ya?"
Darrla sighs and shakes her head. "We can bring the blankets outside!" :She grabs the blankets and pulls them up as she stands:
Raigar tilts his head. "You are bloody insane, Darrla.." he whispers softly, his eyes closing.
Darrla laughs. "That's what they tell me! So how's about we go make a nice fire outside and sleep beneath the stars." :She would say anything to keep herself from sleeping indoors:
Raigar says, 'You could have said something before you let me drag you in here, love..'
Raigar sighs and shakes his head slowly, grudgingly rising from the bed to his feet.
Darrla giggled to herself as she snatched the rest of the covers and drags them along. Though, when she got to the doorway she fell into the frame and slowly slid downwards onto the ground.
Raigar kneeled beside her as she fell against the door, eyes shifting in concern. Smirk crept over his lips at her dismay. "I told you.. You need to rest now, and regain your strength before you go trapsing about outside."
Darrla growls as she unsheaths her blade and sticks it into the ground, allowing it to aid her in standing. "I'm fine..." :She proceeded to walk out the door using her sword as a type of cane:
Darrla heaves a breath of air as those last bit of stairs took the wind out of her. She leaned into her sword gasping for air and clutching at her chest.
Raigar set himsefl against Darrla, helping her once it became clear that she would not be able to make the journey by herself. Fingertips curved over the pommel of her own sword and he hid it against its sheath at her waist once they had entered into the main lobby.
Raigar says, 'Anyplace desireable?'
Darrla shakes her head. "Not particularly, anywhere but inside would be best...." :She wheezes a bit: "I would hate to hurt you."
Raigar says, 'I wouldn't.’
Raigar winks at Darrla. Interesting.
Darrla sighs. "I don't want to hurt the people I care about anymore."
Raigar breathes softly as he helps carry Darrla through the hills, choosing quickly to settle against the slope of the hill, away from the site of Weathertop and roaming enemies. "Maybe you're just losing your edge, hun," he teases.
Darrla shakes her head. "No, I am still as rath filled and vengeful as I've always been, but when it comes to people I care about, I would submit my life for them if it meant they could be happy. There are very few of those left in the world."
Raigar sits against the trunk of the tree and starts to pick at his gauntlets. "The goblins have left the swamps due to the floods, though most went south of hear towards the homesteads.. I think we should be safe so long as we stay quiet through the night."
