Darrla nods her head. "Thank you." : She couldn't see Gonz, she could barely see the man infront of her. She whiped the sweat off her brow once more as she leaned against her sword that was just under her right arm and plunged into the wall behind her:
Tarastor says, 'You don' look so good.'
Gonzalez says, 'On the contrary...she looks very good.'
Darrla recognized a very familiar voice. "Cog?" : She always forgot his 'name'. She whiped her sweat once more, her entire face was flush.: "Thank you. I am fine....just fine." : She faked a smile:
Tarastor says, '... Right.'
Gonzalez cocks a glance at the man behind him. "I see...And is there reason for you being so...how shall I put it? Aroused?" he asks with a light chuckle. "Because before I entered the room, it seemed rather dull."
Darrla laughs and shakes her head, perhaps a bit too fast. A hand moving to her temple quickly as she smiled this time. Though it wasn't fake. "You and your boredom, so easily it gets to you."
Gonzalez shrugs. "My manner of plunging curiousoity as I do has little relevance to you Darrla. At least from what I have gathered." Tapping his chin, he looks her over. "I bet what has you feeling off is that silly hauberk. It's nice and cozy in here, why garb yourself so heavily?"
Darrla leans in and whispers. "I was in a dress earlier....seems I'm getting the chills." : She frowned, though he was the first person she was honest to. She didn't even tell her own sister that she thought she was ill:
Gonzalez simply nods. "Then come with me. The problem is this cesspool of a town. Best to get you away." he says, stepping closer and running a hand over her forehead. "Well, it is without a doubt you have a fever. Take that silly sword of yours and let's leave this place."
Darrla moves to dislodge first the sword that was stuck in the floorboards and sheaths it back in its place. Then the one lodged into the wall under her arm. With a soft grunt, it too was out and into her sheath. She moved to step past him without a word and almost fell onto her face. Though, catching a chair, she balanced herself. "Fever....I feel just fine! Perhaps I've just drank too much."
Gonzalez grins. "Oh I bet you did." he whispers, allowing her the comfort of at least trying to balance herself out. Without much effort, he scooped Darrla from her feet, carrying her down the hallway. "This will make for an interesting tale. As I said, I am taking you away from here."
Darrla looks around for a moment and clentches her eyes shut. "Come brother....we are leaving with this kind man." : She laughs to herself and then looks to Gonz: "What happened anyways....seems I've been asleep for a few days and come to see the town reaking of mold and there are more rats than usual."
Gonzalez scoffs. "I'll tell you all about it, worry not." he says, leading her out of the Pony and to the stables.
Gonzalez whistles softly, his horse kneeling just a bit. Taking a deep breath, he sets Darrla on the saddle. "Hold tight to the reins." he tells her, patting the steed on it's hind and leaping up as well. Snickering, he takes the reins. "Don't mind leaning against me. It beats having you fall off and me having to pick you back up."
Darrla leans forward grabbing the horse for dear life, her head against the side of its neck as her teeth chatter and her upper torso quakes from the frigid rain.
Gonzalez arms hold Darrla close, kissing the top of her head and shifting his cloak to damper the rain from doing too much damage to her. "We are almost there. Lucky for me, I bought homes on the high grounds."
Darrla shivers beneath the cloak, her teeth still chattering. "This is where you live?"
Gonzalez carries Darrla over to his quarters, lying her down to rest on the bed. "It's not much, but I don't need much." he tells her. Pulling his bandanna from his head, he wipes the sweat and droplets of rain from her face. "It is."
Gonzalez purses a lip. "I know how you love your blades, but they are coming off." he says, unbuckling her belt. "As is that hauberk. I have something more dry and less strenous for you." With the belt removed, he sets the swords against a wall, moving into the main room to light the second fireplace. "While I am no doctor, us Knights of Esgaroth did have to undertake some medical courses. As such, I know how to draw a fever out...but I will need your cooperation."
Darrla protests as she moves to retrieve her blades and bring them to the bed with her. The iced steel clutched close to her. "Nobody takes my blades....not even my own family." : She looked to the door and motioned: "Come in brother..." :Her brother would stand by the bed fidgiting his with his hands as if he were a man ready to win a very big bet: "He thinks I am dying ya know..."
Gonzalez quirks a brow, reaching to take her blades again. "While I know you love them, the only blades you need to rely on now are mine. Nothing will come through those doors or windows. You are under my watch." he says, setting them near the bed. "And your brother can only stay so long as he does not interfere or make you feel worse. And believe me..." he reaches into his pouch and holds out the [Glass of Aglaral]. "He wouldn't dare..." Snatching the vial, he sets it back into his satchel and heads for the dresser. "It likely will be too big for you, but that is alright." he says, pulling a white tunic from one of the drawers. "I'll get this on you, and then get some tea brewing."
Darrla grumbles as she stands up pulling her hauberk off and grabbing her swords, placing them on the bed -with- her and pulling on the tunic. She sits on the bed with a sigh. "I'm fine...really....just a little hot is all."
Darrla hops off the bed throwing her hauberk off and first grabbing both swords, holding them by her arms. A new scar could be seen curving from the top of her breast and around just beneath. It appeared to be an intentional scar. She moved over to Gonz and attempted to snatch the white tunic. "I'm fine.....I told you. Just feeling a bit hot."
Gonzalez turns about, not being subtle with how his eyes were looking her every curve over. When she attempted to take the tunic from him, he steps back, resting a single finger on her lips. "Calm down...and really, you are not going to sleep with swords on the bed. If I can sleep soundly without my blades, then you can also." he tells her, pointing to the blades. "I want you to trust me in here. In fact." he nods to the pillow. "There is a dagger under my pillow. If I try and pull anything, I give you permission to kill me in my own house alright?" He pulls the tunic over her head, taking another long glance before pulling it completely over her. "Now lie down dear. I'll get the damn tea going."
Darrla sighs and shakes her head trying to fidgit in the tunic. "I can't sleep here! Are you mad?! I thought we already discussed this...." : She looked around the house and it suddenly felt very cramped, her brother was merely shaking his head and keeping an eye on Gonz. She backed herself into a corner, and ran right into the songbird cage:
Gonzalez watches her with an amused grin. "That is the songbird. I enjoy little things like that. I came to love them when I would see them on the eve of a battle. Long story." he says, dismissing the tale. "I know how you feel about staying indoors. I like the outdoors as much as you." he says, settle the kettle over the fire. "But it is raining, and if you have not noticed, there is a flood going on. That and folk are getting sick." he nods at her. "I want to treat you before you get worst and away from catching other symptoms. Just trust me." he says, stepping close to her.
Darrla frowns as she looks up to the caged bird. "You wish to treat me like this bird? Keep me in a cage? The bird would be much happier outside, rain or shine. How would you like to live most of your life in a cage?" : She sighs as she stares forward and her teeth begin to chatter again, her whole body shaking now:
Gonzalez smiles. "This one fell out of a tree actually." he explains, sweeping Darrla from her feet and slowly pacing towards the bed. "It would have died had I not intervined. I am nursing it to an age in which it can fend for itself." he says, setting her down, pulling the blanket over her slim body. "It's a hobby of mine. This will mark my third save." He smiles, shrugging. "And I won't keep you caged. I just want you to feel better. You don't have to be a proud creature around me Darrla."
Darrla frowns again as she clutches the blanket up to her neck, she fumbles about until she clutched the dagger he spoke of and gripped it with one of her hands. "I told you...I'm fine...just a mild fever.." :It was actually a bad fever, but it seemed that and the chills was the only thing that was wrong with her. Other then being crazy. She looked to her brother and patted the bedside. "You have changed....I don't know what to think about that."
Gonzalez shrugs. "I have always been this way." he says, stepping to the kettle and letting the pot cool. "No one found the time to learn who I was. In the eyes of the folk in Bree, I was a man that fucked everything that walked. Now you see that is far from the truth. Taking up his bandanna again, he leans over her, wiping the sweat from her forehead. "We have to sweat that fever out of you. Some tea will get you strong, and rest will be your best friend. Then...once you are all better, i'll let you go."
Darrla looks to her brother and laughs. "You may be right....perhaps he is just afraid of me....that or....he doesn't find me attractive." : She yawns as her eyes begin to flutter close, yet her brother began to try and shake her awake: "I'm not falling falling asleep!" :She growled to herself and sat up:
Gonzalez laughs softly. "And what would you ask of me Darrla? To come onto you while you are so...well, I know you will hate me to say this but...vunerable? I have more respect for you then that." he says, sitting beside her. "Besides, you are taken or so I hear. Your sister made it more then evident that she wanted me far away from you. And well..." he grins. "You have shown me no interest, so why would I provoke anything?"
Darrla looks at Gonz and frowns. "I'm not property....I am my own woman." : She gripped the blanket and the blade, closer to her chin as her teeth chattered and her eyes slowly began to close. She was shook by something and growled again. "I'm not tired!"
Darrla stared into the fire. "You and I...well....we have something that I've never had with anyone before...." :Her eyes slowly began to close again as her body swayed:
Gonzalez turned to face her, hands slipping beneath the covers to pull her close. "Darrla..." he says softly. Tracing a hand through a soft lock of her hair, he rocked her gently in his arms. "I don't know what it is you would ask of me. Right now, I just want to nurse you back to health. And I know you can beat off a little fever."
Darrla smiles, a faint one. Being rocked reminded her of the old times. Slowly her eyes began to close again. Her brother shaking his head and trying with all that he could to keep her awake. He tried to shout but blood merely curddled from his slit throat. It was too late, Darrla was asleep.
Gonzalez smiles, holding her closely. Wiping the sweat from her brow again, he looked to the kettle. "Hmm...best let it cool off more." he thought to himself. Hand slowly reaching to hold her's, his fingers worked to loosen the grip on the dagger. "I'm just putting this back under the pillow and giving you something that is better to hold onto." he says sarcastically to Darrla. Once the blade was free, he set it under the pillow and interlaced his fingers with her's. "See? Much better."
Darrla whimpered just a bit when her grip was loosened from the blade, her brows furrowed, but shew as already asleep and having her dreams. Those oh so dreadful dreams that she only gets when she sleeps in a house.
Gonzalez watches her eyes clench, and he wonders to himself if there was anyway to make her feel a bit more safe. Reaching into his satchel, he rested the [Glass of Aglaral] in her grip. "When you hold this...it gives a sense of serenity. At least for me." he whispers into Darrla's ear. "I wish I could do more for you, but..." he sighs softly, setting her back down to rest on the bed and tucking a pillow beneath her head.
Darrla ~It was only a few moments until she started having her dreams. She began to whimper loudly, sweat beading off her head more profusely as hands thrashed about. Soft yelps coming from her parted lips as she began to speak: "Don't let them take me......."
Gonzalez peers over his shoulder. Taking a deep breath, he lied beside her, cradling her small form against him. "No one is taking you Darrla. Not with me here." he says, clasping a hand over her's. "And with that vial, you can fight off the darkness."
Darrla whimpers, her hand clentching the item so tight that it dug into her flesh, blood slowly dripping from her grip. Her head thrashing back and forth. "Please just let me go back to my family.......let me go please."
Gonzalez shakes his head. "
Gonzalez shakes his head. "No." he says, tipping her face so that she was facing him. "I am your friend, and there is much left for you to do."
Darrla begins to cry out loud as she sits up, though still within her dreams. "LET ME GO! I'll rip your flesh off and force it down your children's throats if you don't let me go, get me out of these chains, now!"
Gonzalez purses a lip and a brow furrows. Without so much as a though, he brings his hand up and moves to slap some sense across Darrla's cheek. "There are no chains and nothing can harm you here!" he says more sternly.
Darrla screams as she backs away and throws whatever was in her hand at Gonz. Her eyes were still closed, but even if she opened then, they would see her back to her past. She fumbled around again and found a dagger. She held it infront of her in a threatening manner. "If you don't let me go, I swear I will string up up by shoving a spear through your ankles and nail you to a tree. I'll let the starving dogs feed off your face you hobbit devils!"
Gonzalez chuckles softly. "Well now! This is interesting." he says. "Help to aid a woman and she goes postal. Just my luck. He holds the vial close, holding it out as a small glimmer of light breaks through his fingetips. "Darrla...you know who I am...and you know I am not holding you. I am helping you. If I were against you...would I allow you to be holding that dagger?"
Darrla obviously had no idea that Gonz was really there. She was stuck in her past when the hobbits took her away from the orcs. She flailed the dagger about and attempted to jab at the 'hobbits' who held her captive. "Back away! Back away now or I'll scalp your children infront of you!"
Gonzalez blinks, watching Darrla flail about madly. What could he do? Nothing. Were he to step towards her and intervine, she might go to gut him, and he had no means of dying this day, or forcing himself to kill Darrla. Instead, he held the vial close, stepping back a bit so that she could thrash out whatever memories that were plaguing her away. This was something that perhaps she had to face alone.
Darrla lets out a growl as she jumps off the bed jabbing the dagger rather low. They were hobbits anyways. She cried out as she sidestepped out of the room.
Gonzalez took a deep breath, and followed after Darrla. At first, he had wanted to let her rummage, but now he was worried that she was going to leap out of his home in such a terrible state. He couldn't allow it. He wouldn't allow it. Leaping forward, he swiped for the blade in her hand, trying to break it free. Holding the vial to her forehead, he spoke sternly again. "Darrla! Wake up now! You are safe!"
Darrla was waiting for them to jump at her. Waiting for them to try and steal the only weapon she had. She heard them coming, those dang hobbits. She swiped her blade fast and hard as she stammered backwards towards the door. "NO!"
Gonzalez arches himself back, the blade barely missing his throat. Staggering back, he instinctively drew his hands to the hilts of his blades...but refrained from drawing them. The door was behind her, and he felt there was not much he could do. "Go on then" he says, shaking his head. "You are going to get more ill out there. And I still have your clothing and blades. Would you leave those behind?" Feeling as thought those words fell on deaf ears, he headed back to his quarters, serving himself tea.
Darrla ~Her hands were shaking and she slowly went out the door, more than likey not getting very far before she passed out. She clentched her jaw as she left, blade still in hand.~
Gonzalez finishes off his cup of tea, eyes drawn to the slumped figure. The two chattering neighbors looked at him oddly and he shrugged. "Masochist." he says, flashing a wink as he knelt down for her. He first went to remove the dagger from her hand, and then scooped her from the floor, carrying her back up the hill. "At least it stopped raining..." he murmured.
Darrla was asleep, dead to the world. For now anyways, the cool air breeze whipping those fiery locks about her face. She breathed in a deep breath of fresh air and let out a sigh in her sleep.
Gonzalez sits himself down, keeping Darrla in his arms. Setting the dagger beside him, he removes his cloak, wrapping Darrla in it. "There you are..." he says, looking high above. "Thank the Valar it stopped raining...but I don't think this will help with your fever." he says, running a hand across her forehead to see if she was cooler to the touch.
Darrla was still warm but not as much as she had been. Though that episode perhaps did not help any either. Finally her eyes fluttered open and she saw Gonz. She smiled up at him as those lips parted with a cracked voice. "I had the most awful dream...."
Gonzalez scoffs. "Did you?" he says, looking around as to where they were. "I had an awful experience in my home. The first since I have been here." he says softly. "But I am glad the dream has ended for you."
Darrla smiles as she slowly reaches a hand to his face and gently caressed it. "Did you my dark prince? Too bad I wasn't there to help." :It was true, Dar had no idea what had happened, as far as she knew, she fell asleep and they just arrived at his home.:
Gonzalez just shrugs. "I'd offer to take you indoors and aid you, but I don't think that is what you want." he says, nodding to her clothing. "Your belongings are inside though."
Darrla looks at him curiously and looks down to the white tunic she had on having no idea why she was in it. "Will you stay with me.....outside here?"
Gonzalez shrugs. "If that is what you want." he simply says. Shifting, he allowed Darrla to sit beside him, cloak still wrapped around her. He reached for his pipe, stuffing it with the usual wizard's fire weed and striking a chalk of flint against his gauntlet.
Darrla nods and clutches his cloak as she curls upon the cobble stoned walkway and allowed her eyes to flutter close once more. Her brother sitting beside her, stroking her head.
